Happy Saturday!
Today I have a fabulously Summery colour combo for you, just perfect for these hot summer days. And if that wasn't summery enough I've teamed it up with the large butterfly from July's Monthly Make.
Now, I know I've switched it up a little as normally the butterfly would be brightly coloured but for this one I chose to just add a touch of blue and make it pop of the card against that fabulous background.
If you would like to find out how this was made there is a step by step below along with a list of all the gorgeous colours I've used.
Happy crafting, Kym x
Colours Used:
The three Distress Oxides used for this background are:
mustard seed
spiced marmalade
picked raspberry
STEP BY STEP
To create this card I used a 7 x 5 inch base card and a 6 3/4 x 4 3/4 inch mat.
Using the cut piece of card and starting with the palest colour (mustard seed) add three splodges of ink to the card.
TIP: The more/thicker ink you apply the better the resist will be later on.
Using the middle colour (spiced marmalade) fill in some of the remaining white spaces.
With the final colour (picked raspberry) fill in all the remaining spaces and then go around the edge of the piece of card.
TIP: On a "smooshy" background like this is really brings all the colours together if you edge the card in the darkest colour ink.
Water resist time!!!!!!
Holding your chosen Texture Stamp at arms length away from your spritzer, gently spray your stamp with water. Stamp this onto the inked piece of card, leaving the stamp in place for a few seconds, lift off the stamp and blot with a piece of kitchen roll, clean off your stamp and repeat to cover the whole piece of card.
Be sure to dry the piece of card with a heat gun .
I wanted the texture stamp to stand out a little more so I took the stamp off the Stamp base and inked it up using Versafine Clair - Morning Mist
and then applied small patches to two corners of the card.
Next I stamped the large butterfly and a saying onto a scrap piece of card coloured them in, cut them out and matted the saying onto a black piece of card.
Now its time to construct our card.
I started by wrapping some bright yellow ribbon horizontally around the inked piece of card, fastening it with a knot. I then stick this onto the base card and attached the butterfly and saying.
Finally I added Glossy Accents to my saying and ta-da one finished card all ready to flutter away......
