Colouriffic #08 - Two for one!

Today I have a Two for One for you, I love it when you can use your mop up to create a second card and that is exactly what we are up to today, but truth be told I'm not sure if I prefer the original or the clean up better!

Now you will need some cling film for this one, as well every crafter has it in their crafty stash right? I will admit I wasn't very happy with the background at first but I did love the colour combo, it's so bright and summery and works perfectly with Darling Dora that I carried on with my card and I am so glad I did, they both have worked really well, even if I do need to work on the background technique a little more.

And as always all of the inks and stamps I have used are below plus I have done a step by step for how I created the backgrounds.

Happy crafting, Kym x

Two similar cards one with a solid coloured background the other is created with the mop up, but have a flower stamp as the main flocal image
Two cards created using the same Distress Oxides.

a piece if white card covered in three distress oxide colours

Colours Used:

The three Distress Oxides used for this background are:

  • fossilized amber

  • worn lipstick

  • broken china

STEP BY STEP

To create this card I used a 7 x 5 inch base card and a 6 3/4 x 4 3/4 inch mat.

For this one I decided to do three areas of colour, so I roughly split my piece of card into 3rds and started to add the colours

TIP: The more/thicker ink you apply the better the resist will be later on.

I started with fossilised amber, then broken china.

Then finally I added the worn lipstick.

Cling film time!!!!!!

Take a piece of cling film much larger than your cut piece of card and scrunch it until it is just bigger than the piece of card.

Spritz with water then place your inked up card face down onto it and press firmly.

Lift the piece of card and dry.

BUT

Look at all that ink still on the cling film!!!!

Take a second piece of card and press that into the cling film, one this helps with cleaning your cling film but you also get a fabulous second print to use!

Dry both inked pieces of card with a heat gun.

Using a saying (or Texture Stamp) stamp it randomly in the background in fossilised amber and worn lipstick (saving the broken china for the flowers).

Remember to dry the inked pieces of card so that the black ink with stamp clearer.

Onto the inked cards stamp Dora in black ink, then stamp her twice more onto scrap card, and colour these.

Remember to colour the stem on the inked card too.

Carefully cut around the flowers and petals leaving a small border and stick them in position on the inked card.

Onto a scrap piece of card in black ink stamp a saying (twice) then mat onto some coloured card.

Finally attach the inked pieces of card to the base cards, add the saying and add a little sparkle to the centre of the flower!

And there you have two cards using the same colour combo.
